Psychiatry Residency

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine psychiatry residency program is an ACGME accredited four-year residency set in beautiful Lexington, Ky. The program offers a general track, child and adolescent psychiatry fast track, and a research track. The department also offers fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry and addiction medicine. Our program is designed to provide a comprehensive and enriching training experience to prepare psychiatrists to practice in any setting and become leaders in their field.

Strengths of our psychiatry residency include diverse training sites and elective opportunities, engaged faculty, and a collegial department.  The program has a developing focus on integrated and collaborative care, physician wellness and psychotherapy. Neurostimulation therapies, research and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) are major areas of growing emphasis. There is a clinical scholars track offered within the adult psychiatry program that provides protected research time and extra research mentorship for qualified residents with a strong interest in clinical research and academic psychiatry. Interested residents apply in the second half of their second year.
