Pediatrics/Psychiatry/Child Adolescent Psychiatry Residency

Mission Statement

The five-year combined residency integrates pediatrics, psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry to train physicians who synthesize the clinical knowledge and skills of these disciplines. The training provides a foundation for clinical care, education, advocacy, public policy, and research with a developmentally informed biopsychosocial approach to health, illness, and prevention. This unique program transcends the boundary between pediatrics and psychiatry in order to optimize the care of children.

The University of Kentucky was one of the original six programs to offer triple-board training. Graduates of the programs have distinguished themselves by consistently passing boards in all three areas, and have left the program to go into a variety of practice situations in academic, research, and private practice.
